Happy Birthday!

Today is my Mom and Dad’s birthday.  It’s very strange, yes, but it’s true.   They were born exactly five years apart … a little while ago(hihi).  It’s been funny my whole life.  I tell people it’s my parents’ birthday and they always respond with “both of them???”  Yes, both fo them.  It’s kind of cool because I’ll never forget it that way.  One will always remind me to wish the other a happy birthday.  Haha.  We celebrated my father last night for dinner.  Always fun.  We might have a late snack with my mother tonight.

I consider myself very lucky to have the parents that I have.  They’re both wonderful, giving, understanding, supportive, dedicated, intelligent, determined, and downright “good” people.  I was fortunate to have them mould me.  I love them very much.

My Olive is coming along nicely.  Check it out:

I also made this when I got home:

Yummy.  I love homemade banana loaf.  Who knew that organic bananas didn’t last as long as regular ones  Either way, I can’t wait to have a piece.  I took it out of the oven at 10:15 last night – right before bed.  Jacob had a piece because he stayed up later than I did.  He stayed up to read!  What a good kid!  Haha.

Well, I’m off to work.

Bonne fête Mom et Dad!  Je vous aime!

I take it back.

I know I said life was too short for only one project but, truth be told, I’ve only been working on my Olive since I wrote that post.

I went to the movies on Saturday with my girlfriend Tina and I was able to knit through the whole movie.  Stocking stitch is not all bad.  If I keep going at this rate, I’ll be finished in no time.

I do think that I got way too much yarn for this project.  I wonder what I’ll do with the rest.  A hat perhaps.  One of those slouchy, lacy things.

I’m still trying to figure out where Jacob and I are going on our holidays in three weeks.  It’s between the Rockies, Georgian Bay, PEI or, for the same price, Panama.  I wonder how hot it is in Central America right now.  I’ll have to look that up.   Jacob said he doesn’t really care as long as we’re not here.  Not that here is bad – he loves being at home with me where it’s quiet.  I love the country for that – peace and quiet.  Yes, there’s a lot of grass to cut but, it’s less stressful now that my mower works.

It’s cold outside today.  Cold and damp.  It’s been a strange summer so far.

What I did on Canada Day

I went for laser again Tuesday night.  I was sort of wondering why it still hurt so much.  The lady, Charyl (who has the coolest British accent), told me that every time I go, she ups the “juice”.  I actually shed a tear this time.  I don’t know why I do this to myself.

My sister stayed over Tuesday night.  We watched a french movie and went to bed way too late.

I slept until 9:00 a.m.  Holly CRAP!  I haven’t slept that late in ages.  Must have something to do with the fact that I’ve been working 13 days straight!

We had breakfast outside on my deck and chatted.  I love days off.  Wish I had more of them.

When France left, I started with the grass cutting.  Around four hours and a giant blister later, when I was just wrapping up, it started to rain.  It was almost as if Mother Nature was waiting for me to finish to let the rain come ’cause she knew it would be a long time before I had the opportunity to do the much-needed work around the yard.  Thanks!

We were going to get together France, Scott and I with Scott’s friends Mike and Diane and have dinner on a patio downtown Cornwall – because it’s so happening (insert funny face here) but, the torrential downpour was sort of working against us.  I saw lightning like I haven’t seen in years.  It was beautiful.  I love big storms.

Jacob’s soccer game was cancelled so I didn’t get to see him.  I was sort of bummed out about that.  He comes home tomorrow though.  Youpi! (That’s french for hooray…)

It’s raining again today.  I was going to cut some more grass but, I guess Mother Nature wanted me to take a break tonight.  So, I’ll stay inside and knit.  Like anyone would need to twist my arm to do that.

My Korella is coming along.  I’ve got the back done and maybe 1/3 of the front.  It’s quite boring but I will persist.

My PP (purse project) is getting there.  I’m about to turn the heel.  Hmmm, when will I find myself in a waiting room next.  Maybe I’ll be able to work on them at Tina’s on Saturday after our run and before our stead dinner.

My Olive is moving slowly but surely.  It’ll be so nice when it’s all finished.  It’s also reallyboring.  The neck was the most interesting part so far.  I did spend about two hours trying to increase from 53 sts to 80 sts the other night, until I realized I was working on the wrong section and was trying to increase 27 sts into 70 to add up to 80.  I have my moments.  It’s all sorted out and moving along… in stocking stitch.  I worked on it for a few minutes yesterday but had to stop because I was falling asleep.  That can’t be good.  Could you imagine?  Falling asleep while you’re knitting?  My friend Michelle knits in bed.  She told me that she once fell asleep knitting socks and woke up with a needle poking her in the forehead.  Good thing she didn’t poke out her eyeball!

I got an interesting e-mail the other day.  I can’t say what it was about yet but, I’m really excited.

Going to knit now.  Ciao!

Life’s too short for only one project!

That’s what I’ve decided.  I like my Korella just fine but, was absolutely dying to make Olive.

It’s been quite a week since my Memère died.  I honestly didn’t think it would affect me so much.  She was my last grandparent.  I feel her loss.

Wall all the stuff to do last week and working all weekend, I’m so tired I can hardly stand it.  I put on some tea, took some pictures, cleaned up a little, will write this post and then sit my arse down and watch a girl-y movie (Shopaholic).  I think I need to sleep for 36 years.  Maybe then, and only then, will I feel better.

I got to visit little Patrick on Friday.  Man, is that kid ever cute!  (Sorry about the phone pics… they don’t do him justice.)

I could eat him!!!!!!

The weather’s sort of been a little on the strange side too.  Last week, it was this:

It was quite beautiful to see.  I love the view here.  I love that this is what I’m looking at when I’m making my coffee in the morning.

It rained earlier and then the sun came out and looked like this:

The contrast between the grass and the sky is pretty neat I think.

Bla, bla, bla… how boring ha?  Well, sorry…

I also took pictures of some dead flowers before I threw them out.

I used to take pictures all the time.  It was one of my favorite things to do.  Now, I take pictures of my knitting – which is fine but less creative.

This is what my Olive looks like so far:

Well, those are my colors anyway.  This yarn is like butter.  I didn’t want to get the Isager alpaca so I went on Knit Picks (’cause they were having a sale) and got this baby alpaca.  It’s lovely to work with and likely a fraction of the price.

I also have the new socks I’ve started.  They’re my Purse Project (hereafter referred to as my PP).

I finally started the sequel to Friday Night Knit Club.  Pretty good so far.  Don’t laugh… I carry a really big purse!

I’m tired and must knit now.
