A nice drive…

I spent a lot of my day on the road yesterday.  It was beautiful.  I never knew how pretty it was in Vankleek Hill and in Hawkesbury.  I saw some really nice houses out there by the water.

I went to pick these up:

I got a really good deal on these!  Thanks Alma!!!!!

I’ve been hauling ass on my Minimalist.  Mostly, it’s because the yarn is so yummy (Knit Picks Andean Silk – alpaca/merino/silk mix).  It’s easy.  It practically knits itself!

As a result of my excitement over the Minimalist, I’ve neglected by socks (Socks that Rock – sock club January socks).  They’re really fussy and I have to follow three different charts…. not as motivating as a cardigan that knits itself.

I’ve also got that pink skein of yarn I dyed a few weeks back that’s been staring at me from the back of my dining room chair to be turned into a pair of mittens.  I’m thinking the Bella Mittens but modified to be shorter.  I love the cable in those mittens.

I haven’t had time to play with my wheel yet and Jacob’s got me running around today so he can spend more time with his GF (gag).  I’ll just have to play with it tomorrow when I’m alone.

Wonderful Wednesday

We spun at Anne-Marie’s…

and had a guild meeting.  I finally joined the spinning guild.  I need a wheel now but finances don’t allow for this yet just yet.  Got to pay bills first.  Haha.

We went to this little farm in the middle of nowhere…

I spun this…

And then I took my Blue Faced Leicester off the Niddy Noddy and it looked like this…

270 yards of lace/sock weight.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  I’m going to kettle dye it when I have time.

I’m so excited I can hardly keep it in.  I want to tell everyone – even though they really don’t care about spinning and knitting and all things related.  (Sorry Kelly and Sharon for yesterday…)

Some Color

I dyed some wool this past weekend.

I have NOT started my Minimalist or touched the Drops Jacket again.

I’ve been working on my socks – yes, the January (haha) sock club socks.  I’m slow…. I had too many projects on the go at one time for a while.

I’m still thinking of the Fiddlehead Mittens for my Level 1 knitting accreditation end-of-level project.  Mittens though?  Is it strange this time of year?  Mind you, it might be a while before I get to the “end of my level” anyway.  No sweat.

Here are some photos at HOME with wool I spun:

This shade was a little too red… seeing as I was going for brown!!  And that little white spot totally peed me off.  I didn’t think any of my ties were too tight!

LATER AT SCOTT’S with Kiera:

I had so much fun doing this that I want to do it a lot more.  BRING ON THE KOOL-AID!!!!

Close but no cigar.

Remember on Tuesday I said that I was finally finished my Drops 103 jacket and I posted this picture?

Well, here’s the updated version:

The sleeves didn’t appear to fit in the armholes when I started to sew the shoulders together.  AND, when I laid all the pieces out for blocking, I had to stretch the back out to get it the same length as the fronts.  It was never going to work.  That’s what I get for reading and knitting at the same time….

I’m just going to work on my STR socks… and maybe finally start my Minimalist this weekend.  I’ve only been talking about it FOREVER.

Three days off!!!  Wooohoooooooooo.

Went spinning with the girls again today.  Was a hoot as always.  I’m going to join the spinner’s guild.  (No laughing…)  I stand to learn a LOT from these ladies.
