I’m WEARING the Duster!

I started this project in February 1, 2011.  Can you imagine?!  In April of 2011, I had most of it done.  In May, I picked it up and put the neck/collar on.  Then it sat until I finally sewed the sleeves on in September of 2012.  Hahahaha.  Awesome!  BUT, the piece was not completed until I put on the clasps this past weekend.  I hate button holes.  They always look like arse – no matter what technique I used.  So, I was at the fabric shop one day and found these beautiful clasps.  They were so perfect for this project.  I got those on this past weekend.  That’s almost 2 years to finish this sweater:  the Tilted Duster!

I never thought I would say this about this sweater but, I LOVE IT!

I’m wearing it to work today.  It’s dress-down Friday.

Lake Placid Christmas Family Vacation 2012

Christmas is almost here. Eeeeek! At least I don’t plan to skip it this year. Hahaha.

The family went to Lake Placid again. Love that place. We got the same cottage as last year… Cause it’s awesome!

We stopped at the Starbucks like we always do.

I hit the yarn shop obviously! Got me some Brown Sheep Burly Spun to knit my friend this cowl.

I actually had enough yarn in one skein to make two. Sweet!

Unfortunately, that was the only thing I managed to knit. My wrist and arm have been killing me since I crocheted that green cowl. I need to find a better way to hold my crochet hook. BUT, when you see this, it makes it worth it.

Then, when I gave her the cowl from Lake Placid, she put it on and wore it for the next two days. I LOVE it when you make things and people appreciate them. Feels awesome.

So… Lake Placid. Because Steve had never been, we spent the day on Saturday exploring the village. It was really fun. We went into the Olympic rink and a bunch of shops, all of which I had never been to.

I tried to make friends with this guy in an antique shop but he was kind of snobby.

Now it’s back to work and back to the routine. It will be a quiet Christmas for me this year. I’m actually off Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for the first time in 7 years… Yikes!

Oh! And I’m very excited to report that I’ve sold six copies of my pattern. Youpi!!!  I’m not going to become a rich and famous knitwear designer but it’s very exciting for me.

Hope you’re all having a fantastic day!

At Home

Jacob had his wisdom teeth out yesterday. I was off Monday and Tuesday. I planned nothing so I could take care of him and get some stuff done around the house.

My awesome friend Steve built me some shelves in the garage/basement, and I had time to load those puppies up.

It’s been great being at home. It feels like it’s been a long time. Jacob and I haven’t spent this much time together in a really long time. I’ve enjoyed every single minute.

Today, I made a cowl for the work pot luck/gift exchange tomorrow. I know – a little last minute! But it turned out so good I want to keep it. I won’t of course. 😐

When the day was done, we chilled. I love this pic because the boys are sitting on the couch, both wearing tuques that I made.

I’m feeling so inspired and creative lately. I’m sure there will be many posts (maybe short but there regardless) to come. I’m so excited.

For Sale

Today, I posted my first “for sale” pattern on Ravelry. I’m so fantastically excited… If that even makes sense.

Here it is.

YAHOOOO!
