Another Long Weekend!

It was a rather short week last week – 3 whole days of work.  It was fabulous!

Friday, I spun all day.  I don’t often get to say that.  BUT, I literally spun from 10:30 in the morning until after 11:00 at night.  I obviously took breaks to drive, eat and stuff like that.  It was fabulous!

Saturday, I headed to Sand Road Sugar Camp for a giant buffet breakfast with a couple of the girls from work.  We had a great time.  I ate way too much.

Check out this old washing machine.

Then I found this piece of art and had to have it.

I think it’s an umbrella stand.

I went out with some friends on Saturday night.  Needless to say, it took me most of Sunday to recover.

On Monday, I plied my yarn, gave it a wash (13 WPI), put it in “galettes” when it were dry, did up a gage swatch (6 stitches per inch) and…

started Felicity.

The Corridale didn’t keep its color the way I would have liked… or perhaps I should have Navajo plied it – If only I didn’t suck at Navajo though.  Would have messed it all up for sure.

Today, I got a few surprises in the mail.  Remember when I told you guys that I spent some money (oops) on Etsy when I was finding the link to post here?  Well, here’s what I ordered.  YU-MMY!

Aren’t the colors just fantasmagoric? (I may have just made up that word – couldn’t find one that described what I was trying to say.)  Here’s her link again:  Knitty and Color.

I also go another surprise today!  When I came home at lunch, along with the package containing the roving, I had a Canada Post slip for pick-up.  I thought it was my new dress.  When I looked at the package, I realized it was my new WooLee Winder:

It was supposed to take months for me to get this.  I just placed my order only three weeks ago maybe!  I was very pleased.

Today was a great day!

I’m trying again.

Remember the dress I ordered a few weeks back?  It didn’t fit.  The online store gave me a credit.

Today, I purchased this dress!  In MEDIUM.  I can always have it taken in if it’s too big.  Better too big than too small.

I did, however, forget to change the length.  If it’s too short, I’ll add a little lace trim at the bottom or something.

I have ugly knees!  Haha.

Have a good Easter Weekend everyone!  I’m off to spin.

Long Weekend #1

I spent the weekend at my friend Michelle’s in Waterloo.  I left Friday morning after having my tires changed.  Wouldn’t you know they would have a snow storm on Sunday!

I loafed on Friday.

We shopped for yarn on Saturday.  Had some delicious soup and had some girl-time.

We dyed yarn on Sunday and loafed for the rest of the time in front of the wood stove because of the storm.

I made a new friend.  Meet Felix!

I drove home on Monday.

Ahhhhh.

Almost 10

I love SPRING!!!  It’s almost 10 degrees outside.

I just came in from taking the dead stuff out of my flower bed.  I found these:

I didn’t cut down my tomato plants last fall.  I ended up with this gross water-filled-balloon-life thing in my little garden.  Yuck.

It’s been a busy month.  I’m trying to think of what’s been going on…

Went to this cafe in Ottawa with my mother last week.  It’s called Grounded.  It was so awesome and hip that I took pictures of it.

On the same day, we stopped at Wool-Tyme and I got yarn I didn’t need.  Again.  My mother and I made it through the whole store and I was never (really) tempted.  Then I found Noro Retro on sale.  DANG!  The colors were just too pretty to pass up.  I think I’ll design some mittens for this yarn.

I re-knit Zaden’s socks.  They’re not tube socks anymore.  Troy (Dad – the guy I work with) said they fit perfectly and that Little Z loves them so much that he wants to wear them all the time.

I’m happy to report that I’m almost done knitting for other people.  I just have to put the hair and sew on the face for my Princess Puppet – which I will report on later.

I finally finished my Fiddlehead Mittens:

I’m not sure why I waited so long.  The lining was the easy part!

What else…. Oh yes!  With the Shetland that was donated, I spun and knit these squares for a our Guild blanket.

I can’t wait to see what everyone else’s squares will look like and the resulting blanket.

I did a lot of spinning when I got back too.  This is just one of the samples that I spun up from my Phat Fiber Sampler box.

It’s a mixture of Falkland, Polwarth and Firestar.  The color is called “Squash Blossom”.  You can find her stuff on Etsy at KnittyAndColor.  (PS:  I just went to her shop to find you guys the link and spent $65.  Bugger!)

I’ve been moved to a day-time position for at least the month of April.  I don’t know if I like it.  I don’t like having to get up early every morning.  And, it seems that I always have things in the evening.  I just started this week and it seems I was never home before dark.  Makes for a long day.  BUT, the hours are steady.  At least I can count on that for now.

Well, I feel that I’ve told you guys enough for today.  I’m kicking myself for having waited so long.  If I blogged more regularly, it wouldn’t take me hours to do it when I did!

I promise to make an effort.

Hope everyone has a good week!
