A total blurr!

I posted last weekend.  It’s now Monday (I think) a week later.  I’m confused.  Working shifts does funny things to your time perception.

Anyway, my car died last weekend.  On the 13th of February to be exact.  So, I immediately went out and bought this:

I absolutely LOVE this car.  She’s not fancy and she doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles but, I LOVE HER.

I worked some overtime.

Made these somewhere in the week:

Scott and I went skating on the Rideau Canal on Thursday.  I haven’t been skating in about 10 years.  My ankles still hurt!  Am I weak or are the skates just really old and uncomfortable?

We had a wonderful time.  The weather was great and it turned into a beautiful sunny day.

You absolutely cannot go skating on the Canal without getting a Beaver Tail!  YUMMY!  We skated off the bazillion calories.

We made it all the way Downtown!  Check the Parliament.  Nice ha?

Scott said that if I wore skates all the time, my pants wouldn’t be all ripped up at the bottom.  Haha.  Funny guy ha?

I eventually got tired and he had to push me some of the way.

Then we had snacks and a little afternoon drink at Mexi’s at Dow’s Lake.  Pleasant day all around.

Then I worked.

Now I’m off for two days and I have NO PROJECTS.  I feel so incredibly lost.  This hardly ever happens.

I got my shipment (first sock kit) from Blue Moon Fibre Arts – Rockin’ Sock Club a couple of weeks ago.  I think I’ll wind up my yarn and get started on those.

Going to try to make it to the gym today.  Working shift-work also makes staying in shape a little on the challenging side.  I think that I might make it to the gym once a week now, as opposed to four times when I was working at the office.  It’s ok.  I’ll just eat better to make up for it.  Trying to make sure my arse doesn’t get so big that I have to go buy a new wardrobe!

I’m off to start my day!

Spinning Away.

I went spinning again yesterday.  I'm totally determined.  Diane and Glenda were setting up Glenda's loom.  Check this out:

Glenda is the one with the bob.  Diane is the one with the long hair and Reina is the one spinning.  I really like hanging out with them.  They all know so much more than I do.  I stand to learn so much from these ladies.  Spending time with them has opened up a whole new world to me.  I’m very excited.

Yesterday was the third time I spun with them.  I learned something new… how to draft properly.  My end product was nicer when I was doing it wrong but… I’ll get better.

This is the first stuff I spun. Kind of easy - I just had to let the roving take the spin. I didn't have to draft...

This is the second one. Better. I had to draft though. This is wool from Upper Canada Village.

This one's #3 (yesterday). Looks worse than #2.

Glenda’s leaving for “Up North” next week and she’s letting me borrow her wheel while she’s gone.  How awesome is that?    She said that the best thing that’s happened to their group in a long time is ME.  I was really touched.  She said it’s because I’m young and eager to learn.  I guess they think that these ARTS (knitting, crocheting, spinning, waving, etc) are dying and now there’s hope.   Kinda cheesy ha?  But, true nonetheless.

The girls also made me promise to actually use the yarn I spun.  I had to have something made by the next time I see them.  GREAT.  Something else to knit.  Like I needed to add to my queue!

I was on a big high when I got home.

On another note, Jacob and I had plans to watch Back to the Future II last night.  He spent the whole night in his room on the phone with his girlfriend.  I watched the movie by myself.   Is it ok to be really hurt and pissed about something like that?  Being ditched by your own kid doesn’t feel good.  I think he may have felt badly because he made me my pancakes this morning.

Happy First Birthday!

I was on the computer last night trying to help my mother with her new sweater “London Calling”  (sorry, I was trying to find you guys a link and then the computer just went nuts with virus warnings…  You can see it on Ravelry if you’re a member) and I noticed that I’ve been writing this blog for a whole year

The Blog’s actual birthday is the 1st of February.  How cool is that?  One year.

This was my first post.

It’s been a blast so far.  I love it.

I have absolutely no idea how many people actually follow my blog.  BUT, I think it’s fun and that’s why I do it.

Happy Birthday Mimimustknit!

Fluff in my coffee!

I’ve discovered why my dust bunnies are so numerous and large… it’s when I wind wool.  I was winding some of my mother’s alpaca the other day and, because of the way the light was comingin, I could see all this fluff dancing around.  Mystery solved!  It was everywhere.  Even in my coffee.  (I drank it anyway.  As if I would let a perfectly good cup of joe go to waste!)

I think I might have forgotten to mention that on our trip to Panama, we went zip-line-ing (can I make that a verb?).  It was quite the event.  I’m afraid of heights.  And, I ask you, why would I throw myself off  a perfectly sturdy (??) platform, sittingin a harness, and zip from one peak to another.  I considered closing my eyes.  Ultimately, I decided against it.  Turns out that it was very pleasurable indeed!!!  I can’t wait to go again.  Apparently, we have some places around here?  I’ll have to look them up.

I finished Brian’s mittens:

If you’re wondering aboutthe string – he totally asked for that.  It’s not because I think he’s bellow average intelligence.  I’m guessing he thinks the girls will think it’s cute.  Hahaha.  He’s special.

I started some of Saartje’s Bootees.  They are totally adorable.  I’ll post pics when I’m finished.  Shouldn’t be long.  They’re so small.

Off to work.
