Feeling a Little Inspired

I haven’t had much time to spin. And when I do, I’ve been spinning my gray Shetland – which is awesome but quite boring.

A few weeks ago, Craftsy had a sale on on-line classes. I’ve purchased a few already and I really like them. But this one: Spinning Dyed Fibers is very awesome. I started watching the intro last night and managed to get in 6 lessons this morning before 11:00 am.

I’ve had this braid of roving forever. I’ve been too scared to spin it because the colors are so breathtaking.

This photo doesn’t even do it justice. I would really like to keep the colors in this sequence to preserve the intensity. BUT, until today, I didn’t really know how to do that. Thank you Felicia Lo!

I will absolutely need to practice my Navajo plying on roving that I don’t fancy as much as this braid. But, so far, that plying technique has not been my favorite. I feel like I’m all thumbs.

On another note, my Dr. Who? scarf is coming along. I’m not sure how many feet it is but it’s probably just over 7 feet. Every time Kurt sees his scarf-in-progress, he squeals. It’s hilarious. I absolutely love it that someone appreciates the piece so much. It makes it more fun for me to knit. I can’t wait to see him wearing it. I’ll try to get a good picture of it tomorrow after knitting night.

I’m going to venture out into this crazy snow storm shortly. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

The Interminable

It’s been a very lovely last few days. I feel very good in general today. I think it’s because I haven’t been rushing here an there like I usually do. It’s been a week of spending time at home – which is one of my favorite things to do.

I spent Family Day loafing in my pj’s and watching Back to the Future ( 1 & 2) with Steve.

Yesterday was a day for phone calls and errands… And cooking!

Now for what I’m working on… The Doctor Who Scarf. It’s very lovely to look at but so very boring to knit. I have been working on this, and only this, since Friday the 15th. Three night shifts, two Back to the Future movies, the most recent episode of Walking Dead and three episodes of the new season of Californication… and I don’t think I’m even half done. It is the Interminable Scarf!

I wonder how many hours will go into this piece? I timed how long one row takes me: 1:46. There are 1,000,872 rows in this scarf – in garter stitch.

I’ll let you know how it works out.

Spinning, Spinning and More Spinning

Yesterday was a day for spinning. Our guild members, and members of other area guilds gathered in Chesterville to spin. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many spinning wheels in one place.

Today was a day for cleaning out the yarn closet.

It didn’t take as long as I thought it would!

I still have time for a little nap and some yoga before my first night shift of the weekend. Now if only the wind would stop!

Fiddlehead!

I haven’t seen my Fiddlehead Mittens since Lake Placid. I think I must have left them somewhere – perhaps the Starbucks? I’ve been in denial for some time. Now that I’ve faced the reality that they’re gone, I’m kinda bummed. Even though they weren’t my favorite mittens, they were a lot of work and they were expensive to make.

At this point, I will hope they fell into the hands of someone who will appreciate/love them and take care of them.

Maybe I’ll make new ones? 🙂 And, if I make new ones, I’m totally putting them in a string. Am I at an age where that would be considered cool? If not cool, at least a little quirky? I like quirky.
