Let it Snow!

I woke up this morning and looked out the window.  The breath caught in my throat when I saw the snow.  It’s a thin blanket but it’s really beautiful.

I used to hate winter and everything about it.  ThenI moved to the country.  I don’t hate it anymore!  Even though now I have to drive further in it.  Thing is, in the country, the snow stays pure white.  It’s always beautiful.  If you look out your window, you see white – not brown or grey from the City.

I love how a light dusting of snow like this just sits on the tree branches and on the tip of the pines’ needles.   Makes me want to watch Grumpy Old Men and drink hot apple cider!

On a knitterly note: I finally started France’s February Lady.  Youpi!  I really like the Cascade 220.  It’s easy to work with, knits up well and even and I just love the color I chose.    While I knit last night, I listened to a book on CD.  It’s wonderful.  I had a hard time “putting it down”.  Hahaha.  It’s a Nora Roberts.  I really like her stuff.  This one is called Midnight Bayou.  (I just looked it up and there’s a movie!!  How cool is that?)

I promise to put up some pics soon.  But, again, I have to be home in the daylight to get any decent shots.

I have a new shed in my yard that I had built a few weeks ago.  I haven’t been out to see it because it’s pretty much always dark when I’m home – except in the morning of course but, I’m too busy getting ready.

I hope people aren’t driving all crazy today because of the snow!!!

Productive-ity

Even though I had a busy weekend and week, I managed to make two whole puppet (without the face) and my Wurm.

I got France’s February Lady yarn but I haven’t started it yet.  I’m not too worried.  My FL knit up pretty quickly.  I am, however, really looking forward to playing with the yarn.  I got some Cascade 220, which I’ve never worked with.  I figured 355 people used it before me to make this sweater so it must work up pretty well.

While I was on Ravelry looking up yarn options,  I noticed that it now says that 7,400 people have made the February Lady.  It’s been translated to six other languages to boot!  That’s got to make it one of the most popular patterns of all time!!!  Haha.

I still have to put some eyes on my Harry Bear.  I suppose there’s no hurry for him ’cause he’s staying local.   I showed Patty’s Mom and Dad (Rachelle and John) and they thought he was pretty darned cute.  I’m working on his scarf.

Well, it’s official!  I’m published.  How THRILLING.  I submitted a little “knitting article” to a local paper a few weeks ago.  Today, on my way back to work from doing the banking, my cell phone rings.  (I know I’m not supposed to be on my cell while I’m driving but…)  It was my mother calling to congratulate me.  At first, I was completely confused.  I had no idea what she was congratulating me for.  I have some things on the go that my merit a congrats but… not things that she would know the outcome of before me.  ANYWAY, she proceeded to tell me about this article on page 27 of the Seaway News.  MYarticle.  I was sooooooo excited!  I read it the minute I got home.  And, although I wrote it and re-read it about 20 times, I was still really excited to read it again, in a published newspaper!  Maybe I’ll frame it!

I’ll post pics when I have time and the light is better.

Good Intentions

I fully intended to start France’s February Lady last night.  Actually, I didstart it.  Got about 6 or 7 rows in and didn’t like the look of it.  I then spent the better part of a 3 hour movie looking for new yarn to buy.  Then, I got worried about buying yarn and not getting it in time to make the sweater before Christmas.  Then I thought of Wool-Tyme in Ottawa.  Tada.  They even e-mailed me to tell me my order had been shipped today.  Fewf!

When I got to work this morning, France told me that a co-worker of hers wanted me to knit her two puppets for her grand-daughter and niece.  So, guess what I’m doing until France’s yarn arrives?

Bla bla bla

I spent the better part of the little time I had at home last night speaking to a Bell representative.  Whatever time I wasn’t speaking to him, I was on hold.  Then I got cut off.  Imagine my frustration.  I could have been knitting all this time!!!!  I hate TV!!!!!

It was Circle night.  I didn’t get much of anything done because Mrs. Peachey came back with more wool and books this time.  Then the owner of the cafe brought up a box and a few bags of needles, books and notions.  I think I managed to sew up the arm and the side of the head of my little bear that I made for our local woman’s shelter.

I got some great shots of the girls last night.  Well “great” might be a strong word because I used my new phone camera.  The pictures look great on the phone but, not that great when you transfer them to the computer.

I finished Taylor’s mittens.  New Moon comes out this week so, I’m guessing it’s more that than the fact that it’s so cold that she needs her mittens right now.

My mother, Lucie and I made all these little puppets to send to Operation Christmas Child

I made this little guy over the weekend.  He needs a scarf and some eyeballs.  I thought he was absolutely adorable and easy to make up.  I made him in no time.  It almost takes longer to sew him up than to knit him.  Wait, maybe he’s a she? (I’ll have to see how the eyes turn out.)  I was going to make him for the women’s shelter but, I didn’t get a big response from the girls in the Circle about this one so, maybe I’ll keep him and give him to Patty for Christmas.  Apparently, he wants a hand-made teddy from his aunt Mimi.  I could make him a sweater!  How cute would he be with a little sweater?

These are the girls.  We have a few missing.  We have some spinners, crocheters and knitters.

This is Mrs. Peachey.  Isn’t she sweet?  If I wasn’t working so much, I would go out and have tea with her at her farmhouse.  Maybe I’ll find time in December.

I have to start France’s February Lady.  I’m so slacking!!!!!  I know she’ll understand if I don’t have it done by Christmas Day so…

Off to work…
