Gloomy Tuesday

I finished my shorties yesterday.  They’re Kiera’s socks.  Hope she likes them.

I sort of miscalculated my starting point for the second sock.  I tried to make them the same but, when I started the second sock, I started from the outside of my ball – which meant that the colors were in reverse.  They’re still cute right?  They’re for a 12-year-old.  I hope she still thinks they’re cool.

I also finished (mostly) my Drops 103 Jacket.  The pieces are drying on the blocking mats as we speak.

I have to put the collar on and then sew all the pieces together.  Its been about a year since I’ve made something (a big thing) that requires sewing.  I’m actually nervous.  It appears as though the back is a little shorter than the fronts.  I had to stretch it out more .  Maybe the fronts are longer because of the shoulders?  Strange as I counted the rows and they should have been pretty much exactly the same… Maybe it’s just me.

I can’t wait to start my Minimalist!

The only other UFO (Un-Finished Object) I have is my January Socks that Rock.  Because they’re socks, I tend to work on them on my breaks, in the car, etc… I work on the bigger stuff at home.  BUT, it’s April and I expect that my next package for the Sock Club will arrive soon.  I suppose it doesn’t really matter.  It’s not a race;  there are no deadlines.

Today’s a gloomy day.  I don’t mind it though.  It’s a good day for doing things inside.

Under $25

I went into a very large yarn shop yesterday and only spent $23.00!  I couldn’t believe it myself!  That’s almost unheard of… ME and a yarn shop, not even walking out with a skein of sock wool????  What is this world coming to.

My rational was that unless I had a vision (or a plan if you will) for the said skein(s) of yarn, I wasn’t buying it.  Point finale!

So, I got this instead:

And it was knitting last night.  Diane read that I wanted to do some dyeing of wool and brought me this:

A dyeing only designated pot.  How awesome!  Thanks Di!

I read the Yarn Harlot’s blog this morning (see link on sidebar) and she was talking about card weaving.  So, naturally curious as I am, I had to check it out.  I went on Youtube and found this video: “Card Weaving“.   I think I just found a new craft I NEED to learn….  CRAP!

You know, I have 7 out of 14 days off for the time being.  Can anyone explain to me why I still feel like I don’t have enough time to do all the things I want to do?  I wanted to spin, knit and read today.  I don’t know if I’ll have time with all the things I have planned before I go into work tonight at 11:00 pm.

Today is such a beautiful day.  I can’t believe it’s 14 degrees on the 1st of April. I’m wearing my flip-flops and my windows are open.  Fantastic!  I love it – makes me happy.

Happy April Fools Day!  Did anyone play a trick on you?
