OMG… I love it here!

Jacob and I have been in San Francisco for two days.

We’ve seen tones of stuff because we’ve done all the tours I think.  It’s gorgeous.  Jacob wants to live here… only the guide today told us that, next to Manhattan Island, this is the most expensive place to live in the US!  How about that.  Jacob asked me how much I make in a month.  I replied “even if I used my whole salary, not even enough to cover rent!”  He thought that was funny.  Me?  Not so much.

I’ll post the bazillion pictures I’ve taken so far when I get home.

I think that I have (and I’m not joking) gone through 8 sets of batteries.  I’ve taken so many pics… I just can’t help it.

It’s FREAKIN’ awesome here!!!!

I’m going to put my feet up.  It’s not natural to walk this much….

Let the Adventure begin!

I was awake before my alarm went off this morning.

In six hours, we’ll be boarding our plane and I can hardly stand it anymore.  It must have taken me three hours to fall asleep last night.

All I kept thinking about was all the things we’re going to see!

Man, I can’t manage to find a good picture of the Golden Gate Bridge to put in here.  They won’t work.  (Damn Copyright!)

Don’t worry, I’ll have tones of pictures on here next week! (And tones of new yarn – well, maybe not tones but some for sure.)

Ciao!  I’m off to San Francisco!

Two more sleeps!

Man, is this week going by quickly for anyone else?

I booked my trip last week and if feels as though time has been whizzing by me ever since.

Truth is, I’m scared.  I’m not a wuss – just the only adult on this trip.  It’s easy when you have someone else to lean on if something goes wrong.  I guess I’ll just have to talk myself down if something happens.  I suppose this means I’m truly a grown-up right?

I’m really, really, really excited, despite the nerves.  This is the first trip Jacob and I take alone together.  I figure I’ll take advantage before he hits that stage every teen hits where they hate their parents.  Maybe I’ll get to skip over that part though.  Apparently, I’m a “cool” parent.  That, and, he’s a great kid.

I’ve done some research and so has Jacob.  We have about a million things planned and only 6 days to do them all.  He’s e-mailing me every day (from his father’s) with something new and his version of the countdown.  How cute is that?

I did my laundry last night.  Tonight, I have to get a new suitcase I think.  I always pack way too much ’cause I’m afraid that I won’t feel like wearing what I packed.  So, I pack more.  It’s a girl thing I think.

In the meantime, I’m swamped at work.  My boss barely leaves me time to take a bathroom break.  I manage to escape long enough to hit the gym at lunch.  That’s it.

Two more sleeps to San Francisco!!!!!!

Back to work for me….

Utter Contentment

Today is the first day in a really really really long time that I have no commitments whatsoever.  It feels strange.

I got up around 8:00 (couldn’t sleep later if you paid me these days) and I was so excited about my day that I forgot to make coffee!  Can you freakin’ believe it?  I was so excited and zipping around the house trying to figure out what to do first that I FORGOT TO MAKE COFFEE.

First I started to tidy up.

Yarn.  It had sort of taken over the living-room area.  I packed up the supplies my Mom will need to make France’s Olive, undid a little shirt I made that I will never wear and brought everything upstairs to the “yarn closet”.  It’s a big closet and it’s been assigned as my yarn storage area.

That’s when it dawned on me –  holly shit I need to make some coffee.

I sat down at the computer and returned a few e-mails.  While I was writing, I was drinking my coffee.

The sun’s out now but it was pretty gloomy earlier this morning.  I decided to go out and cut the grass anyway.  BUT, as I was getting dressed, I spotted a puzzle I had picked up a few weeks ago. Perfect!  I’m going to do a few things that needto get done, then I’m going to sit my arse on the floor, listen to my latest book on CD, the Blue Dahlia, and do a freakin’ puzzle.   Then maybe I’ll read, knit, make banana bread, water my plants, finish my book (Knit Two), hang outside, and watch Mama Mia later when it’s dark, etc.

I had to boost my mower.  How funny is that?  I had to take out the cables and hook my car up to my riding mower.  I think it’s quite funny myself.

I was going along and realized that I had absolutely no idea what time it was.  How complete foreign for me.

When I was all finished, smelling like fresh cut grass and two-stroke, I hopped in the shower.  I was in there, washing my hair, thinking to myself that I could do whatever I wanted today.  It’s a beautiful day.  All my windows are open, the fans are going – creating a lovely breeze.  It smells like my my grandparents’ cottage when I was little.  I was so giddy – like a school girl who just got her first love note – that I was laughing all by myself in the shower.  (Don’t worry… it’s not something I do a lot.  I felt the need to clarify so no one starts making plans to have me committed.)

I didn’t put on any make-up… or a bra.

What to do, what to do?  The day is filled with possibilities. (I can’t seem to whipe the smile off my face)

Tomorrow, I’ll clean a little (’cause I really should) and I’m having people over for dinner.  I think I’ll make lasagna – something different.

Oh, I’ve been meaning to post these.  They were my grandmother’s (Memère) – made by her hands.  And now I have them… I miss her sometimes.

These are my Memère’s knitting needles.

This old slipper pattern was in her stuff.  I think these things are hilarious.  John, want some?  You’re always bugging me to make you slippers.

And this is my Memère’s foam head.  I’m not quite sure why she had this.  It’s possible she used it for the same thing I’m going to use it for.  And every time I use it, I’ll smile and think of her.

She’s going to be my new hat model.  Her name is Laurette, just like my Memère.

I can’t believe that in one week from right now, I’ll be on a plane to San Fransisco.  I’m sooooooooooooooooooooooo very excited about that.  I’ve already scoped out the yarn shops.  There are a lot!   Poor Jacob!  Ahhhahahahaha.  He’s really anxious (the good kind) about this trip too.  He’s already had me pick up a few books for him at the library for the trip.  He also wants me to dye his hair before we leave so his roots aren’t showing.  (I’m pretty sure I gave birth to a boy…)

Anyway, enough of the computer!  I have a million other things to do!  Youpi!!!
