Hello technology!

I just spent the last ten minutes on MSN with Jacob.  Not that unusual.  BUT, this time, I used the web cam on my new laptop.  How cool was that?  I could see him and he could see me.  I made faces at him, he made faces at me.  I noted how you could see my wrinkles, he laughed at me.  Then I blew him a big kiss and said goodnight.  Now, I miss him more than I did before I talked to him.  I wanted to tell him that I was working all weekend.  I don’t get that many shifts at the police station so, I take what I can get.  Being single and independent is wonderful… in every way except financially.  I have to work two jobs to make up for the fact that I’m solely responsible for this mortgage and the DC shoes (and T-shirts and sweat-shirts) Jacob wears.  He’s a reasonable kid though and actually works to pay for some of his own stuff.  How cool is that at 14?

I started the christening gown.  I think I might have an inch and a half done.  So far, I’ve worked on it for about seven hours.  Woohooo!  I’m done the trim!!!  *Shaking my head*  This is going to take forever… Thank goodness I didn’t wait for the last minute to start.  This baby’s due in May.  Which, like I said before, gives me until about mid to late June.  That’s three whole months and then some.  Can I do it?  I’m actually afraid.

The gown will be all kinds of beautiful.  Only thing is, it’s not the only thing I’m going to want to work on for a whole three months.  That’s just absolutely obscene.  I’m working on the second sock of my El Salvador socks.  Well, the first one will be nick-named that but, I can’t really call the second one an El Salvador sock.  Poor thing.

I also want to make the “Skinny Scarf” that I saw on Knitty Gritty (they even have the instructions on how to make it – you can also watch that segment of the show – if  you can locate it).  I have the yarn in my stash for it to top it all off.  It calls to me.  I got this yarn at the Kitchener/Waterloo Knitter’s Fair two years ago (maybe three – who knows) now.  I’ve just been waiting for the right project.  I have about 297 skeins of yarn in my stash (I hope it’s still a moth-free stash), that are all waiting for their turn to become something beautiful – not that they’re not already beautiful.

My friend Michelle mademe go through my stash last year.  I got rid of so much stuff… and I still have about 5 tubs full – plus bags here and there in the spare room, in the living room, at the foot of my bed, etc…

Well, I best go work on my gown now.  I estimate that the gown, sleeper and bonnet will take me approximately 200 hours.  Let’s say I have 100 days left.  That means that I have to knit at least two hours a day to be finished in time for the christening – never-mind having it done for the birth!  Yikes.  At least now I have a goal.  Two hours a day!  I hope no one feels left out if I pay more attention to my knitting then to them?  C’est la vie.

I’ll at least try for an hour tonight.  I’ll make up for it at Circle tomorrow.  Hihi.
