“Obsession”. Is that bad?

So, Jacob and I watched Twilight on Friday night.  It was THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!  I thought to myself “if I didn’t have to get up at 4:30 tomorrow morning, I would be watching this movie again.”  It was that good.

My sister stayed over again last night.  Her husband comes home from course today and we wanted to squeeze in another girl’s night (with Jacob – poor kid).

We turned out all the lights when we got home ’cause it was Earth Hour (8:30 to 9:30).  It was so lovely in the house with all the candles Jacob and I had set up.  We chatted.  I couldn’t knit ‘case candle-light isn’t bright enough to keep track of charts and lace.

I kept telling France about the movie and really wanted her to watch it.   We were both sooooo tired though.  I put the movie in anyway.  She was falling asleep as I was skipping over previews.  Then the movie started.  Soon enough, she was sitting up with eyes wide like a 50¢ coin!

We smacked each other at all the good parts, and giggled at the cheesy romantic parts, gawked at the scenery (wink wink), etc…  Jacob sat through the whole thing, again, and laughed at us the whole time.

By the time the movie was over, it was midnight.  When the credits started rolling, France turns to me and says “I want to watch it again!”.  I almost peed myself laughing ’cause that’s how I had felt Friday night (and totally thought I was a freak).

We didn’t watch it again ’cause she was tired and I had been up since dark-thirty.  We still watched all the special features though.  Then “France” decided “she” wanted to go online to find interviews and stuff about the movie.  (I watched the Paramore video.  (Love her voice and her hair.  Makes me wish I could sing and have kick-ass hair.)  The chick-signer wears the most awesome purple knitted tuque.  I’ll have to re-play the video in slow-mo so that I can figure out the pattern.  I always have knitting on the brain.)

I saw “Bella’s Mittens” in the movie and pointed them out to France.  Now I have to make her a pair too.

When I got up this morning, guess what we talked about?  The movie.  I think it might be possible that France is more obsessed than I am.  The last time we were like this was when Titanic came out and we were all madly in love with Leonardo DiCaprio!

FRANCE LEFT WITH THE MOVIE.  I can’t believe I let her take it.   That means I can’t watch it.  She’s going to make her husband watch it.  I told her I wanted it back moocho quick-o.

It’s raining and Jacob’s sick today.  I’m staying home most of the day.  Perfect for knitting.  What am I going to watch now?

How old am I again?

Have you ever felt like it’s totally impossible that you are the age that you are?  I feel like that all the time lately.

Reasons why I feel like I should be between 17-24:

  1. I like and wear the same clothes that Jacob’s friends (the girl kind) wear and I don’t think I look like I’m trying to look young.
  2. I like the same music as Jacob.  Linkin Park, Billy Talent, The Used, Alexisonfire, etc… I have to admit that I even like Cypress Hill.  I like the hip hop too – makes me want to shake my ass.
  3. Jacob uses the word ass in a sentence and it doesn’t bother me.
  4. I liked the movie Superbad.

The kicker is… ready?… I’m super-excited about watching Twilight tonight.  I bought it on Saturday (the day it came out – I’m a nerd).  Jacob asked me to wait for him to watch it and I’ve been biting my nails ever since.  He read the book and told me it was awesome.  So, I read it and I had a hard time putting it down.

Then, I saw this pattern on www.Ravelry.com:

The pattern is called “Bella’s Mittens”.  (Did I mention that if you’re on Ravelry, this pattern is F-R-E-E?) Now, not only can’t I wait to see the movie BUT, I want to see if the mittens are in it.  I’m so making these next winter.

The gown is coming along.   I feel like I’m working on it night and day.  Apparently, it’s doubled in size over the last two weeks.  It sure doesn’t feel like it when I look and see where I am.

This is what it should look like when it’s all finished:

This is what mine looks like:  (keep in mind that it’s not blocked)

I’m working on the third arrow thingy.  I still have seven more to go.  Then the tank part.  After that, I have to make the sleeper and the bonnet.

I have to say that it’s looking kinda nice.  I feel like if I can make this and it’s actually wear-able, then I can make anything!  Maybe I’ll try to finish my Green Autumn mittens (see bellow).

This is what they’re supposed to look like when finished:

It’s the chart thing.  It drives me crazy.  The charts for the gown are easy (I didn’t say the pattern – just the charts).  The chart for these mittens – YIKES!  There’s no pattern, it’s all about the chart.  Anyone have a “loupe”?

Either way, the mittens are on the back burner until the gown is done, however long that may be.

I’m secretly wishing I could knit something of color.  Pink, red, purple, whatever.  I went to bed last night mentally going through all the yarn in my stash (the stuff I can remember).   I can’t wait… I love stash diving.  I always find stuff I had forgotten I had.

Ok… MOVIE TIME!!!!!

Slumber party!

Is it strange that the thought of having a sleep-over makes me all giddy like a little girl?

Friday night, my sister France and my mother decided to stay the night at my place.  Opportunities like this don’t come along very often.  We normally go on our annual family Christmas vacation but, this was awesome ’cause it was at my place.  We ate chips, watched a movie and I, naturally, knit the whole time.  I bought the movie “The Other Sister” over a year ago but refused to watch it without my sister.  We had watched it together a million years ago and it didn’t feel right watching it without her.

I think the most exciting part about this little slumber party was that they wanted to sleep at my  house.  It mad me feel so proud.

I managed to spend some quality time with the women in my family (whom I love/cherish from the very bottom of my heart), watch a really adorable movie, and work about 4 hours on the gown.

I said that I was committed to getting past the pin-tucks this weekend and I have one done.  Only 6 regular rows and then the tuck part and I’m there.  I don’t know if it’s realistic for today.  I worked nights at the station last night so I slept from about 7:00 ’till 1:00 p.m.  Now I feel like my day is too short and I can’t possilby cram in every thing I want to do.

We’re going to Prescott to have dinner with Scott’s parents.  I’ll make him drive so I can knit!  That’s about an hour in a half.  And, they don’t seem to mind when I knit over there either.  (I put it down to eat, naturally.)

Off I go to start my day (at 2:30).

The Break

I’ve been under the weather this week.  As a result,  I haven’t made much progress on the gown.   It’s looking very cute though… have a look.

I figure I'm about 1/3 done.
I figure I'm about 1/3 done.

I like the leaves.  I think they’re really cute.

I always do at least one row in the morning.  The plain ones take about 15 minutes.  The ones with yo’s and sl 1, k2tog, passo’s take a little longer.  This morning, I wanted to knit another row.  It was either a post or knit another row.  Either way, I have to take a very quick shower or I’ll be late for work.

It’s been a strange week.  On Monday, I thought it was Tuesday, and so on and so forth.  So, today feels like Saturday and I can’t believe I’m at work…

I got to come home right after work on Monday, which was nice because Jacob had been home sick all day.  I suppose it was good timing – March Break.  Poor kid though.  We had a good time either way.  All week, I’ve been appologising for not taking the time off.  When I was a kid, both my parents were teachers.  I guess I just grew up assuming everyone’s parents were off during the Break and everyone did something fun.  I have guilt!!!

Jacob was sick again on Tuesday but felt much better than Monday.

Wednesday, I cancelled my plans after work, swung by home, picked up Jacob and we headed to Ottawa.  We hit the Chapter’s (my fave store in the whole world) and then had steaks at Montana’s.  We waited a long time for our food but, they have that craft paper on the tables and crayons in a glass so we played hangman until the food came.  My first word was Y-A-R-N.  I can’t believe he didn’t get it!!!  It was such a blast.

I still have guilt.  I wanted to do something more with him.  Maybe next year???

Tonight, I’m knitting.  Well, after running and driving all over the three counties anyway.  I’m committed to getting past the second pin-tuck this weekend!  After that, it’s a lot of repetition.  I have to remember to check the pattern either way so that I don’t miss any decrease rows.  I’ve done that a few times.  It worked out but, it scared me anyway.
