The Opaline Socks: Release Weekend (with discount)

Meet the Opaline (pronounced opal-een) Socks.

The name comes from a book I recently read called The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods. Opaline is the protagonist and I immediately fell in love with her name. I see a potential theme for naming my patterns. 😉

I feel like I’ve been working on these socks for such a long time!

Designing socks, especially socks with an intricate pattern, is a lot more involved and takes much lot longer than I thought.

Honestly, I was a bit cocky when I started.

I work two socks at a time so this was a bit deflating in the beginning when I had to rethink gauge because of the cables. Then I had to re-calculate the entire gusset and make the heel deeper. Oy!

I wanted to write the pattern so a beginner to toe-up, cabled socks could knit them. One of my testers (thanks Jenn) helped me tremendously with this.

Let’s not even talk about how hard it is to take pictures of your own feet.

Alas, the hard work is done and I wanted to share these with you.

If you feel like knitting something a little fancy, I think the Opaline Socks will do the trick.

If you’re purchasing the pattern before Sept 7th, 2026 at midnight, use code LONGWEEKEND25 at checkout for 25% off to celebrate the launch of this pattern (and the long weekend).
