I just purchased a loom!

I know (sigh)… I really don’t need to learn a new craft.  But I’m going to (hihi).

She‘s small but she’ll be great to learn on.  I can make scarves, pot holders, place mats.  I actually have absolutely no idea how to use this thing or what I can actually make with it.  I just know that when my friend Claudette said she was selling it, something inside me told me I had to have it.

Now I just have to find a place to put it!!!!

I’ll be getting my Ashford back from Lucie soon and I’m not quite sure where I’ll put her.  I’m thinking my bedroom.  I don’t spend that much time up there so it’s really not a big deal if I “store” things up there.

I’m thinking of finishing a space in my basement to use as a studio.  I’m just worried about water since my flood in September.  I know it was a total fluke because I’ve never had water down there before – not even a drop.  Let’s just say that I check my sump pump on a regular basis now.

On another note, I spent some time practicing my Navajo plying and my last skein hung perfectly when I took it off the knitty knotty.  I was very excited.  And I did all the spinning and plying on my new Woolee Winder!  It’s wonderful.  I can’t believe how much more (yardage) I can get on a bobbin with my new toy.  It’s great!

I also found this video on Ravelry on Navajo plying which was very helpful:

If only I were that smooth!!!  I think I probably look like a flailing idiot when I ply.

(As an aside, I’m very excited that I finally figured out how to insert videos into my posts.  Eeeek!)

Well, today’s a day off.  I have three things to do today:  replace my wheel’s drive band (because my awesome friend Bonnie left me a poly band in my mailbox), do a charity “Big Bike” for about an hour, and have dinner at my mother’s.  I’m sure I’ll find some time in there to do something crafty.

I frogged my Felicity hat.  It was a perfect fit around the brim but for a hat, you want it a little tight.  Plus, I really didn’t like the increases – they made my hat look like a chef’s hat.  Not attractive.  So, I frogged the whole thing, cast on 110 stitches instead of 120. I will omit the increases, only change to larger needles and knit in the round until it’s long enough that it slouches.  I do like the way the yarn turned out though so I must use it.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.
