I went spinning again yesterday. I'm totally determined. Diane and Glenda were setting up Glenda's loom. Check this out:
Glenda is the one with the bob. Diane is the one with the long hair and Reina is the one spinning. I really like hanging out with them. They all know so much more than I do. I stand to learn so much from these ladies. Spending time with them has opened up a whole new world to me. I’m very excited.
Yesterday was the third time I spun with them. I learned something new… how to draft properly. My end product was nicer when I was doing it wrong but… I’ll get better.
Glenda’s leaving for “Up North” next week and she’s letting me borrow her wheel while she’s gone. How awesome is that? She said that the best thing that’s happened to their group in a long time is ME. I was really touched. She said it’s because I’m young and eager to learn. I guess they think that these ARTS (knitting, crocheting, spinning, waving, etc) are dying and now there’s hope. Kinda cheesy ha? But, true nonetheless.
The girls also made me promise to actually use the yarn I spun. I had to have something made by the next time I see them. GREAT. Something else to knit. Like I needed to add to my queue!
I was on a big high when I got home.
On another note, Jacob and I had plans to watch Back to the Future II last night. He spent the whole night in his room on the phone with his girlfriend. I watched the movie by myself. Is it ok to be really hurt and pissed about something like that? Being ditched by your own kid doesn’t feel good. I think he may have felt badly because he made me my pancakes this morning.
Wow! Weaving for the third time…I missed the news about the second time. Well, I’m happy you’re enjoying the challenge.
