That’s really great Maria. Good for you. I really don’t like straights either. Circular all the way! Or double-pointed sock needles – the little short ones. I love those.

I had crocheted for years and I had tried to learn but for some resaon I couldn’t get the hang of it. Then Cindy, who is a member of my Guild, took the matter in hand and showed me how on double pointed needles and told me if I learn to knit and pearl I could do any stitch. Needles to say I did have some frustration but I over came it. I found that the straight needles were the problem for me. The length and weight of the end was too much for my wrist. Now I use circular needles or double pointed for everything. I even knitted my first circular mobius scarf. Boy was I proud of myself. I learn new stitches by doing dishrags in cotton which are easy to rip and don’t take too long. Since I use my own alpaca and llama fiber I usually make a sample piece just to make sure I have the stitches down and then the real piece. It still takes me longer to knit than crochet but I love doing it. The only problem is I have to have several projects going at one time. I found I have to have several needles of the same size.My guild and other knitting friends have helped me with several stitches when the directions were not clear. So thank you Fleece on the Duck Guild so teaching me to knit.
